The petition raised almost 2500 signatures and will be heard in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre (formerly Pittwood House) NEXT TUESDAY 16th JULY at 3pm. We weren’t notified as per procedure and found out via Twitter! Will you come and give support inside and outside the Council Offices on Tuesday? Will you also please lobby the Ward Councillors* who have previously expressed their support to retain De Lacy House. Their support on Tuesday could make all the difference to the outcome. They have a surgery THIS SATURDAY 13th JULY between 11am and 12.30pm at the Winterton Hub/Library on West St. The plans of North Lincolnshire Council to build an Intermediate Care Facility (demolishing De Lacy) do NOT meet the needs of Winterton people as we have pointed out to them. Let North Lincs Council build their new facility where they like, but NOT on the De Lacy House site. We need 6 months to come up with a detailed feasibility study and business plan, and in view of the huge support we have in Winterton we will demand this on Tuesday. Please be there Tuesday if you possibly can and bring lots of supporters with you! Very many thanks for your support. *BURTON UPON STATHER & WINTERTON WARD COUNCILLORS: Elaine Marper Tel: 01724 720075 Mobile: 07557 566210 Email: [email protected] Ralph Ogg Tel: 01724 732216 Mobile: 07557 566211 Email: [email protected] Helen Rowson Tel: 01724 720701 Mobile: 07768 636568 Email: [email protected] North Lincolnshire Council would like your views on the proposal to build a new purpose-built intermediate adult care facility on the site of the former De Lacy House in Winterton.
The council has allocated £3.2m for a new modern building capable of providing the highest-standard of care to North Lincolnshire residents. Don’t miss the opportunity to have your say, tell the council what you think about the proposals by completing the online survey. A copy of the consultation document and survey will also be available in all local links and libraries across North Lincolnshire. The consultation is running from 31 May 2013 until 21 June 2013. UPDATE: The consultation has now been extended until 28 June 2013. A public meeting has been called by the SOS De Lacy House campaign team to allow the public to express their views on the new North Lincolnshire Council proposals over De Lacy House. This meeting will be held on Thursday 13 June at Trinity Methodist Chapel, King Street, Winterton at 7.30pm.
The petition attracted 2,483 signatures. Proof of this can be seen in the picture above when the petition sheets were laid out after the signature count. The petition has exceeded (formally after verification) the 1,500 signatures and North Lincolnshire Council are organising a Special Meeting.
A petition has been launched. Following the decision to close De Lacy House as Council-run Care facility, and the subsequent approval of the North Lincs Council Planning Committee to approve the demolition of the facility, the Winterton Town Council, Senior Citizen's Forum, Winterton Improvement Network and Winterton Disabled Club have come together with other members of our community to Save De Lacy House - the campaign is non-party political, cross-community and numbers residents of all ages.
Action petitioned for: "The residents of North Lincolnshire signing the petition, call upon North Lincolnshire Council to allow De Lacy House to be retained for the benefit of the community and also call upon NLC to consider options to be put forward by community groups for care provision in the Winterton and surrounding areas, to include all aspects of care, including respite, day and 24-hour residential care." Residents wishing to sign the petition will find copies in the township. Some volunteers will also call on residents at home to give them an opportunity to sign the petition if they so wish. The deadline for the petition is 30th April 2013. At least 1,500 signatures are required to trigger a full North Lincolnshire Council meeting to debate the future of De Lacy House as stated above. UPDATE - The petition is now closed and will be submitted on Monday 13 May 2013 to North Lincolnshire Council. |
